LESSON PHILOSOPHY

I am a classically trained pianist and tend to format my lesson style in that way, while being sensitive to each students personality, experience, skill level, and interest. I believe so much of the success of piano lessons is founded in the student-teacher relationship. My two goals as a piano teacher:

  1. I want my student to love the piano.
  2. I want the student to love me. ;)
I believe the foundation of being a competent musician and pianist is reading music, skill building, and establishing a classical backbone, however I find it important that the student finds their lessons to be broadening, challenging and fun.

Any skilled pianist can teach piano skills - I want to cultivate a heart of passion as well. Because at Kiley Ko., "We care more about Passion than Perfection". (Though students should still practice and work hard and do their very best... blah blah blah ;) ).

Lastly, I care a lot about providing opportunities for students to perform. The confidence and life skills that are built each time a student performs in front of a group of people are so invaluable and beneficial, not just for being a better pianist, but to become more confident person, to work on goal setting, facing fears and enjoying the important and sweet satisfaction of self pride.  Please visit my events page for more details on performing.
